Anne of Green Gables – P.E.I’s Heritage Home & Famous Musical!

While visiting Prince Edward Island with Comfort Tour, you will have the opportunity to visit the Anne of Green Gables Heritage Place, which has been P.E.I’s main tourist attractions for many years. The Heritage Place pays tribute to the Anne of Green Gables novel series.

Prince Edward Island is where Lucy M. Montgomery got her inspiration to write the famous series of novels about a red headed little orphan, Anne Shirley. While looking over the fields of Cavendish, Montgomery created Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, siblings living on their family farm together. They decided to adopt a young boy to help out with the upkeep on the farm. To their surprise, they were matched with a young girl named Anne. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables series shares the story of Anne’s life while growing up at Green Gables and living in Prince Edward Island.

With the novel being translated into 36 different languages, Green Gables has visitors from all over the world. The annual Charlottetown Festival features the famous Anne of Green Gables – the Musical every year. The musical kicks off its 50th consecutive performance season on July 1st and ends late in September. It is the nation’s longest-running musical, which tells the story of Anne Shirley through elaborate sets, singing, dancing and modern staging.
